Job: Web and Mobile Developer
Blue State Digital (BSD), a strategic consulting and technology firm, is seeking a full-time web and mobile developer to join our growing design and production team. The position will be located in New York, Washington, DC, or London.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with our frontend developers to tackle techinical challenges with PHP and Javascript. This might be anything from writing a jQuery plugin, to building an Expression Engine module.
- Building the server side layer to Facebook or Mobile applications. These would run either in ExpressionEngine/CodeIgniter, or in Python on AppEngine.
- Building mobile applications. We tend to prefer Titanium Appcelerator for building cross-platform native applications, but native iOS/Android SDK is also an option.
Required Qualifications
- Stong knowledge of modern Web Standards (HTML5, CSS3).
- Strong JavaScript/jQuery experience.
- PHP or Python (preferrably at least a little bit of both). CodeIgniter or AppEngine experience a plus.
- Knowledge of Facebook APIs is a plus.
- The ability to optimize for client and server side performance.
- Well-versed in Firebug or Chrome/Webkit Inspector.
- Experience with version control systems, we use Git.
- Ability to work in a decentralised way as part of our multi-office (DC, Boston, NY, LA, SF, London) design and production team.
- Ability to manage client and internal expectations, balancing scope and timelines.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks and communicate in a busy environment.
