Job: Freelance 2D/3D Animator

We work with a range of clients, from non-profits to progressive political organizations to arts and cultural organizations to corporations and brands.

Blue State Digital is seeking a freelance 2D/3D Animator.  This person would work closely with a small internal video team on projects ranging from the creation of short web videos to interstitial branding (bumpers, lower thirds) to animated infographics. It’s anticipated that this person would work out of our NYC office for one to four weeks on a project by project basis. While this is a freelance position, it has the potential to turn into full time employment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, animate, and finalize motion graphics and animated video projects
• Build projects from existing storyboards, maintaining look and feel but bringing project to life
• Execute projects well on quick timelines

Required Qualifications

Job skill requirements include:

• 2-3 years professional experience in Motion Graphics and Animation
• High level of proficiency in After Effects with:
  • Broadcast motion graphics and kinetic type
  • Character Animation using IK rigs and puppet tool
  • Compositing
• Moderate level of proficiency in Cinema 4D with:
  • Modeling
  • Texturing
  • Animation
• Fluent in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
• Strong eye for design
• Ability to work well with others in a small team
• Ability to take direction well, but also motivated and competent to own a project from start to finish
• Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
• Proficient in Mac only environment
• Interested in being part of small but growing team with diverse clients including non-profits, progressive advocacy organizations, and well-known brands
• Interested in online engagement and community building programs
• Preferably based in NYC but DC is also acceptable
