Job: Business Development Associate

Blue State Digital, a strategic consulting and technology firm, seeks a sales professional with at least 3 years of relevant experience to manage the sales of our technology platform and related technology services. The Business Development Associate position is a leadership role within the business development team that will focus exclusively on the sales of our proprietary Software as a Service (SaaS) technology platform within the not-for-profit sector in the US. Hundreds of political and public affairs campaigns, non-profit organizations, cultural institutions and corporations license the BSD Online Tools.
The Business Development Associate will be responsible for further developing outbound sales strategies, building industry relationships and referral networks to drive revenue and expand market share. He/She will serve as the key contact and liaison between BSD and potential technology clients during the sales process. He/She will collaborate with the Business Development, Marketing, and Technology teams to customize sales materials, case studies, and demonstrations for optimum presentation of BSD Online Tools’ capabilities and competitive differentiation.
Key Responsibilities
- Selling the BSD Online Tools, custom technology, training and implementation services to nonprofit clients in order to reach and exceed aggressive monthly, quarterly, and yearly sales targets.
- Prospecting for new customers through cold calling, email and networking within the non-profit community and through trade associations and groups.
- Taking prospective clients through full sales cycle, from initial lead response, to product demo, to proposal and closing.
- Establishing and maintaining key account relationships and referral network within the non-profit sector
- Providing prospective clients with compelling, ROI-based solutions in the form of product and service proposals
- Continuously updating and maintaining active deals for pipeline management, including weekly activity and forecast data
- Staying abreast of personnel changes, buying trends and competitive actions within the non-profit market which may directly or indirectly impact our products or services
- Represent BSD’s capabilities at appropriate events, conferences and networking functions
- Working with other BSD employees to craft client-specific solutions during the sales process.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college
- 3-5 years of successful sales of Software-as-a-Service licensed technology. Experience selling to non-profit, academic and/or cultural organizations and experience selling CRM and/or platform-based IT services highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the Software-as-a-Service model and demonstrated ability to clearly articulate the architecture of our software platform to technologically savvy prospective client contacts (CTO, CIO, IT professionals, etc)
- Demonstrated ability to assess sales opportunities and move the prospects through a sequence of events to develop a sales cycle
- Superior communication skills with the ability to make clear, compelling, and value-focused sales presentations
- A strong work ethic and goal-oriented attitude
- A motivated individual with a strong desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment
- Must exude enthusiasm and be solution driven as well as have a flexible interpersonal style
- Proficiency with the Internet, MS Office, and other software
- Some travel is required (up to 30%)
