As 2009 comes to a close, holiday and end-of-year fundraising campaigns are in full swing. With snowflakes falling, fires roaring, and cider flowing, there's no better time to help worthy nonprofit organizations start the next decade with a little momentum. This holiday season, please take a moment to spread some cheer to one of these great organizations.

The American Red Cross. The nation’s premier emergency response organization provides humanitarian care to war victims and aid to those affected by natural disasters. Over the past year, Blue State Digital has helped the Red Cross revamp its online presence and fundraising efforts. Be sure to check out the Red Cross's holiday campaign and online gift catalog where you can offer your help.

Autism Speaks. The leading autism advocacy and research organization is asking people to help change the lives of those who struggle with autism spectrum disorders. Blue State Digital helped Autism Speaks implement a holiday splash page and donation campaign.

Engineers Without Borders-Canada. Engineers Without Borders marshals the problem-solving abilities and creative pragmatism of the Canadian engineering sector to create opportunities for rural Africans. EWB’s holiday campaign asked supporters to urge family and friends to donate to EWB in lieu of traditional holiday gifts. Blue State Digital enhanced the Engineers Without Borders holiday campaign with our personal fundraising tools and strategic counsel. The donations will support change in Africa and at home in Canada.

Raising Malawi. Earlier this month, Madonna appeared on CNN's American Morning as part of the original series "Big Stars, Big Giving." She was there to promote Raising Malawi, the organization she co-founded to help end the poverty and hardship of Malawian children. Blue State Digital is helping shape Raising Malawi's communications strategy and launch its first-ever individual donations program. As part of the program, Madonna is generously matching all new contributions to Raising Malawi dollar for dollar.

Share Our Strength. Over the past 20 years, Share Our Strength has provided tens of millions of meals to children in every corner of the country in its mission to end child hunger. Earlier this month, just in time for the holidays, BSD helped Share Our Strength produce a video that will demonstrates the organization's impact to potential partners and donors in an accessible and compelling manner.

United Way. With the support of more than 12.5 million donors and volunteers from all across the US, United Way creates opportunities for a better life for all by focusing on the three key building blocks: education, income and health. BSD helped United Way streamline its homepage to foster growth of its email list and increase contributions. Concurrently, BSD is helping United Way run a holiday email and social networking outreach campaign aimed at list cultivation and fundraising.

The traditional arc of online giving always means that December — and December 31 especially — sees higher rates of donations than any other time of year.
