THIRTEEN asks for votes on history’s most influential musical artist
Who was the most influential musician in world history? That's the question being asked by THIRTEEN, the country's largest public television station, as part of the promotion for its new documentary, How the Beatles Rocked the Kremlin.
Directed by Leslie Woodhead, the film, airing on November 9, documents the powerful effect that the Fab Four had on Soviet youth in the 1960's, and how the Beatles' message of rebellion and individualism played a part in the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Working with BSD, THIRTEEN is inviting viewers to nominate their choice for the artist who has had the most impact on world history. The station has already received more than 750 nominations; contenders include Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, Michael Jackson, the Grateful Dead, and, of course, the Beatles.
Voting opens next month - nominate your favorite artist now. And check out these scenes of Russian bands covering the Beatles from How the Beatles Rocked the Kremlin.
