The Game is in US
For those of you around to watch in 1994, remember how much fun it was to have the FIFA World Cup™ in the U.S.?
74,000 fans at Giants Stadium in New Jersey watched Bulgaria's magic run end in a defeat to Italy. Over 90,000 fans in Pasadena watched Brazil win the title in a classic defensive struggle.
The U.S. World Cup Bid Committee has partnered with BSD to launch Gousabid.com and make that magic happen again. The website aims to build a strong community of American soccer fans (and soon-to-be soccer fans) who are ready to stand up and let the world know that The Game is in US.
With the skyrocketing popularity of soccer, and great cities and stadiums coast-to-coast, few other countries are as well suited to host the 2018 or 2022 FIFA World Cup™ as is the United States.
Be sure to check out the site - especially the interactive timeline showing the history of a soccer in the U.S. and the blog where you can read all the latest world cup bid news. Plus, you can get a cool sticker in the mail for free, just for signing the petition!
Matt Ipcar, BSD's design director, had a blast building the site:
"Working with the Bid Committee and designing www.gousabid.com has been unlike any other project I've ever worked on. Unlike some of our previous campaign projects, the energy and raw excitement surrounding the USA World Cup Bid is politically colorblind and covers the entire American spectrum. I'm thrilled to have a hand in activating thousands - hopefully millions - of American soccer fans. We want to give them a forum to let FIFA know that we want the World Cup here - and let the world know that we're ready for it."
Without a doubt, it's been an incredibly exciting and interesting project to work on. And the launch couldn't have happened on a better day. Today at 4:00 PM EDT the U.S. National Team heads to Estadio Azteca in Mexico City to face the Mexican National Team.
Hopefully we can sneak in a few minutes to watch.
