National Geographic launches newest website
In coordination with Blue State Digital, National Geographic launched Ocean Now's website yesterday.
Ocean Now is a project designed to study the last healthy, undisturbed places in the ocean. Right now, Dr. Enric Sala is leading a talented team of scientists, explorers, photographers and videographers on an expedition to the southern Line Islands in the South Pacific, where very few humans have gone before.
The website will allow users to track the journey every step of the way - providing unprecedented access for an expedition of this kind. Members of the Ocean Now crew are reporting back to dry land daily with updates of what they have seen, and more stunning pictures and breath-taking video are on the way.
The crew is also asking anyone to pose questions of them, which they will be answering from the ship on a regular basis.

The campaign utilized BSD’s tools to mobilize over 3 million individual donors to contribute over $500 million online, to motivate over 2 million social networking participants, and to create and promote more than 200,000 offline events across the country. “We had a website, but no real organizing tools. I called Blue State Digital and within days, hundreds of screening parties were being created. Our film, The Ground Truth, continues to be screened in homes and community centers across the country. Blue State Digital provides the tools that activists need.”
