More Than 300,000 Soccer Fans Say “The Game Is in US” on GOUSABid.com
The World Cup Bid Committee's website, Go USA Bid, recently achieved another milestone: 300,000 soccer fans have now proclaimed that "The Game Is in US."
In August, the USA Bid Committee publicly launched its campaign to convince FIFA, the international governing body of association football, that the United States should host the FIFA World Cup™ in either 2018 or 2022.
The Bid Committee knew that soccer fans in the United States were an extremely passionate but largely untapped resource. The Bid Committee combined forces with Blue State Digital to leverage the energy of these often ignored fans — and BSD has helped them build a movement that the global soccer community cannot ignore. Go USA Bid — which barely existed six months ago — has grown to become one of the largest U.S. sporting constituencies on the Internet.
Phillip Holmes, the director of Blue State's Los Angeles office, explains why Go USA Bid has been so successful:
"As BSD has expanded from politics into sports, education, cultural institutions, corporations and beyond, we've found that untapped passions exist everywhere. Nowhere is that more apparent than in the world of sports."
"Like political constituents, sports fans respect organizations that are willing to have authentic two-way relationships with their supporters. Go USA Bid has embraced this approach from the beginning, and it's paid off. This campaign has an ever-growing movement full of passionate advocates who are willing to go above and beyond for the bid."
