BSD to Canada: Bonjour
What do honey, Zambia, and the French language have to do with Blue State Digital?
Last month, BSD helped Engineers Without Borders–Canada launch a new campaign called "World of Opportunity."
Engineers Without Borders–Canada is an organization of professional engineers, students, overseas volunteer staff, and other supporters across Canada who work to make sure the next generation of rural Africans have the same opportunities to improve their lives that Canadians do.
Take Engineers Without Borders volunteer Mark Hemsworth, for example. Mark helped 72 farmers in Zambia build a better future. These farmers are the first to join a rent-to-own program launched by Mark and a local partner, which allows small-scale farmers to rent the equipment they need to produce honey, paying a small monthly fee and eventually taking ownership of the tool.
World of Opportunity
The World of Opportunity campaign invites engineers (and non-engineers like you and me!) to start their own personal fundraising campaigns. Funds from these campaigns help support engineers working hard to bridge communities in rural Africa. With the resources of the EWB team and the support of your friends, family members, and colleagues, making a difference is easy.
Because Canada has two national languages, English and French, all of the World of Opportunity assets — emails, guides, and tips — are all available in both languages!
