A Movement for Education Equality
President Barack Obama isn't the only one interested in fixing the American public education system.
Last week Blue State Digital launched a new website for the Education Equality Project - a group founded by Reverend Al Sharpton and New York City Schools Commissioner Joel Klein.
Education Equality Project is a non-partisan group of elected officials, civil rights leaders and education reformers dedicated to closing the achievement gap in education - "the huge difference in academic performance between students from different economic circumstances and racial/ethnic backgrounds."
In the coming months, Blue State will work with the Education Equality Project to create a movement to fix our failed education system.
"I'm thrilled that the website is launching days after President Barack Obama's historic speech in support of education equality," Klein said in a press release sent today. "With grassroots activism on the internet increasing, the EEP site will help channel public interest and organize the support we need to break down barriers to change."
